Soaps

Its what we leave out of our soap that makes it different, and what we put in that makes it special! We do not use any chemical soap detergents or foaming agents, by-products of the petroleum industry, or animal fats in our soap. Our natural soaps, made from carefully balanced formulas of oils, fats and butters will provide the perfect amount of lather and gently clean without stripping the skin’s own natural oils.

A great many claims are made about soap these days, most of which are pure marketing. The most popular is to claim that a soap can be moisturising. This is pure fantasy, when you consider what the soap is designed to do. The cleansing action of soap comes from it molecular structure, ‘a water-loving tail’ and an ‘oil-loving head’. When we use soap on our skin, the oil-loving end bonds with grime and grease while the water-loving end combines with the water and so the dirt is washed away. Soap is seldom left on the skin for more than a few seconds, it certainly does not stay long enough to be absorbed and therefore any pretence of moisturising qualities is simply fantasy.
